Heritage & Identity: You come from the noble Swabian Dunszt family. How does this historical legacy influence your personal style and your approach to modern creative work?

I grew up with a strong awareness of my family’s history and cultural roots. The Dunszt family has been part of the Bakony region since the 18th century, and that sense of heritage shaped my appreciation for elegance, discipline, and timeless aesthetics. I see my work as a modern continuation of that legacy.

The Design Philosophy: Your work focuses on clean silhouettes and expressive detailing. How do you find the balance between „minimalist structure“ and „bold expression“?

I love the balance between structure and emotion. Minimal silhouettes create sophistication, while expressive details give personality and tension. I always try to make pieces feel refined but emotionally powerful.

Inspiration: You’ve mentioned Thierry Mugler and the house of Versace as key influences. What is it about their specific „visual language“ that speaks to you the most?

Thierry Mugler and Versace inspired me because of their confidence and strong visual identity. Mugler felt architectural and cinematic, while Versace mastered glamour and sensuality. Their work was fearless, and that really resonates with me.

The Creative Process: When you start working on a new collection or a custom garment, what is the first spark? Is it a feeling, a material, or a visual texture?

Most ideas begin with a feeling or atmosphere. Sometimes it’s music, texture, lighting, or emotion. I always start with the mood first, then the silhouette and materials naturally follow.

New Collections & Streetwear: Can you tell us more about your current design direction? How do you define „luxury“ in the context of modern streetwear and your ready-to-wear pieces?

My current direction combines luxury tailoring with modern streetwear energy. For me, luxury today is about identity, craftsmanship, and emotional connection rather than obvious status symbols.

Custom Creations: You design for public figures and private clients. What is the most important thing you want someone to feel when they are wearing a custom William Dunst piece?

I want people to feel confident, elevated, and unforgettable when wearing my pieces. Fashion should enhance someone’s presence, not overpower it.

From Stage to Studio: You are a singer, actor, and designer. Does your experience on stage change the way you think about how clothes should move and feel on a person?

Definitely. Performing made me think more about movement and emotion in clothing. I design pieces to feel alive on the body, not only visually strong in photos.

Modern Tastemaking: In the age of fast trends, Maison GRÂTTEAU values timeless aesthetics. How do you ensure your work stays relevant but also „eternal“?

I focus on authenticity instead of trends. I think timelessness comes from creating a strong and consistent visual language that evolves naturally over time.

The Hungarian Scene: How do you perceive the current creative energy in Budapest compared to global fashion hubs like London?

Budapest has a very raw and authentic creative energy. It feels emotionally inspiring in a different way than cities like London, which are much faster and more commercialized.

The Future Vision: What is the next frontier for William Dunst? Are there any upcoming projects or collections that will further define your signature style?

I want to continue building a complete creative universe through fashion, music, and visual storytelling. My future work will further explore the balance between aristocratic elegance and modern edge.
